Greek, and this was created for one main purpose, to know God. An animal has a soul and a body, but a human being has a body, a soul, and a spirit (1 Thess. 5:23). When man broke fellowship with God in the very beginning—what we call the fall of man—this inmost part died, or went out of action, and man ever since then has operated from his soul, and body (Genesis 2:17).
